The Harris Center for Mental Health & IDD
HOUSTON, TX
The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD recently renovated its existing facility in Houston, Texas. Completed in August 2022, the building’s transformation enables The Harris Center to continue to provide high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective services to persons with mental disabilities so that they may live with dignity as fully functioning, participating, and contributing members of our communities.
As a Design-Assist partner on this project, Brandt served as the General Contractor, and our project scope included complete MEP services. Our HVAC remodel from old air handling units to a new variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system consisted of the following:
- 92 fan coil units (FCUs)
- 6 condensers
- 6 branch controllers
- 4 sub-branch controllers
Additional installation involved four new rooftop units (RTUs) and seven exhaust fans. The electrical scope consisted of supporting all mechanical items and a new generator. Project demolition and remodeling occurred in six phases while the building was fully operational. Our teams coordinated with all parties to ensure minimal interruption to the employees and guests of the building.
