HCA Medical City Plano

(PLANO, TEXAS) – Brandt performed the design-assist mechanical and plumbing services for The Sarah Cannon Cancer Hospital, located on the existing HCA Medical City Plano campus in Plano, Texas. This 138,000-square-foot, four-story patient tower provides patients with access to leading-edge cancer therapies, advanced technology, research, and support.

PRECONSTRUCTION SOLUTIONS

HCA Healthcare invited Brandt to the initial project kick-off meeting to task the project team with the following goals: 60% fabrication, 10% reduction in budget, and 10% reduction in schedule. This process resulted in the entire team collaborating to come up with a solution and claiming ownership of the process and results. Our preconstruction team worked closely with WSP’s design team. This unique partnership enabled us to meet the owner’s objectives, leverage WSP’s expertise, and develop a shared project model. With only 50% complete construction drawing, Brandt and WSP delivered a complete coordinated model, which cut our shop drawing time by more than half.

FABRICATION SUCCESS AT HCA MEDICAL CITY

Brandt fabricated integrated rack corridor systems for the project. Here, all systems are contained in a common framework that was built and tested offsite. The framework was designed to incorporate ductwork, water piping, medical gas piping, electrical conduit, cable trays, and even fire protection. Most impressively, our team installed approximately 50,000 pounds of ductwork and 10,000 feet of plumbing and hydronic piping in the fabricated racks.
