Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center Expansion
(SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS) – The Henry B. González Convention Center underwent a $325 million dollar transformation aimed at re-energizing and enhancing the 50-year-old facility. When the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center unveiled the completed expansion in 2016, it further established and secured its competitive position among convention centers nationwide by providing a flexible, efficient experience that exudes the character and spirit of San Antonio and its community.
The project scope included a 776,000 SF expansion of the existing Convention Center comprised of exhibit halls, a column-free multi-purpose exhibit ballroom, a 55,000 SF grand ballroom, meeting rooms, and administrative and support spaces. In addition, the project entailed a 49,000 SF renovation, including the demolition of the original west building. All work took place while the building was fully operational.
