Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital | Harris Health System
HOUSTON, TEXAS
Over the past few years, Brandt has fulfilled the general contractor (GC) role for various renovations at the Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) Hospital, a member of the Harris Health System. This 215-licensed-bed acute care hospital offers a full range of medical services and was the first level three trauma center designated in Texas.
Brandt was awarded this project after completing Phase I, where (8) air handling units were refurbished. Our scope of work is refurbishing (9) existing dual duct air handling units (AHUs) in the penthouse mechanical room.
During the renovation, there will be a complete demolition of the interior of the AHUs and the installation of new:
- Supply and return air fans
- Chilled and hot water coils
- Pre-filter and final filter banks
- Drain pans
- Bipolar ionization devices
- Outside air dampers
- Unit insulation
- Metal casing
- Floor plates
Additionally, the existing pneumatic system will upgrade all unit controls to digital controls. Two temporary air handling units were installed in the penthouse space to keep the hospital functional while completing our work. These temporary AHUs enable us to provide all affected hospital areas with available HVAC during the refurbishment.
