UTSW Brain Institute and Cancer Center

The UT-Southwestern (UTSW) Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center and Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute in Dallas, Texas, opened in November 2022 after over three years of construction. Brandt provided design-assist mechanical and plumbing services for the project, which included two nine-story buildings, utility tunnel enhancements, parking garage additions, and central utility plant renovations. Brandt’s early involvement and in-house construction technology facilitated efficient planning and fabrication, enabling unique solutions like upgrading the chiller plant’s capacity without extensive re-work. The project, spanning from December 2018 to February 2022, involved collaboration with UT Southwestern, EYP Architecture & Engineering, Affiliated Engineers Incorporated, and Vaughn Construction. Brandt received a TEXO Distinguished Building Award in 2023 for its contributions.
