A Look Back – Brandt’s Community Outreach in 2017
Brandt helps build Texas communities in more ways than you’re probably thinking. Sure, we pride ourselves in having 60 years as industry leaders, but when it comes down to our core values, we are most proud of the reputation we’ve built as charitable leaders in the great state of Texas. Our mission is to give back to groups that strengthen our social and cultural foundations, and we’re excited to share some of the initiatives we were involved with in 2017.
Special Olympics of Texas
Brandt is a proud Blue Ribbon Sponsor of the Special Olympics of Texas competitions. In January ‘17, our Sr. VP, Steve Hayes was elected to the Special Olympics Texas’ board of directors! Throughout the year, our team volunteered multiple times to help their cause.
Brandt Employee Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund
The hurricane and subsequent flooding devastated the Houston area and seriously affected more than 150 employees within the Brandt family. So, we begat The Brandt Employee Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund to raise money that would go directly to those employees that were impacted. Our goal was to raise $25,000, but the overwhelming support that followed was awe-inspiring: $83,376 in cash donations. Further, Brandt contributed $270,694 in donations, and MCAA contributed an additional $30,000. In all, $400,254 in aid was provided through Brandt’s efforts. Dallas Blood Drive
In April, our Dallas employees donated 19 units of blood to the Dallas Blood Drive.
San Antonio CAP 10K Race
Last April, many of our Brandt employees participate in the San Antonio CAP 10K Race, which raises money for the Austin Parks Foundation. The foundation receives $1 from every Cap10K registration, and the Statesman matches every additional donation up to $10,000!
Boys & Girls Club
In April, we were Road King Sponsors of Boys & Girls Club of Bartlesville. For over 60 years, this location has been reaching out to young people with positive, life-changing programs. We’re excited to find sponsorship opportunities again in 2018!
Bike MS
Bike MS is a two-day fundraising bike ride organized by the National MS Society. Their mission is to create a world free of multiple sclerosis. For years, we’ve participated in their frequent biking events, and in May our team participated in the MS150. Our long -partnership made us want to see how we could help even more. So, representatives from Bike MS were kind enough to stop by our Dallas office in October to share the many ways we could help. We are excited to implement these initiatives in 2018, so stay tuned for more details!
Back-to-School Drives
In August, Brandt employees participated in multiple back-to-school drives to help the impoverished youth receive school supplies. We partnered with the Community Partner of Dallas, the YMCA of Houston, and Foster Angles of Central Texas to help the impoverished youth receive back-to-school supplies. Between cash and supply donations, Brandt employees donated 642 backpacks at one event and $1,750 worth of school supplies at another.
Houston Food Bank
Some of Brandt’s Houston employees took time out of their busy holiday schedules to volunteer at the Houston Food Bank. The team put together more than 1,500 meals for local senior citizens!
Houston Toy Drive
In early December, Brandt employees in Houston collected nearly 100 items for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
